What is a Gas Safe Registered engineer?

Gas Safe registered engineers are the only people legally allowed to work on gas heating systems, boilers, cookers, fires and any other gas appliance.

All of our gas engineers are on the Gas Safe Register. Our company Gas Safe number is 629257 and each of our engineers will always carry a badge with the Gas Safe yellow triangle on it. You can check that our engineers as fully registered by phone or by visiting the Gas Safe website.

The importance of a Gas Safety Certificate

It's a legal requirement for landlords to have all gas appliances, pipework, chimneys and flues checked every 12 months to make sure the property they're renting out is safe for their tenants. Once this check has been completed, you will get your CP12

Homeowners

If you own your own home/gas appliances, a Gas Safety certificate isn’t mandatory, but you may want to get one nonetheless, for a number of reasons:

  • To ensure the safety of those in your home.
  • It may be a requirement of your insurance.
  • The long-term manufacturer warranty of some appliances might stipulate that you need a Gas Safety check annually.

Gas Safety Certificates

It is the law that all new gas appliances in your home are fitted to Gas Safety Regulations. It is the job and responsibility of all Gas Safe Engineers to record such installations with the relevant authorities.

The certificates a engineer leaves after fitted, serviced or safety checked an appliance depends upon its use and what it does.

If there are any serious problems with gas appliances, our engineer must make them safe. We work to very strict governing body guide lines (Gas Safe) when it comes to safety in the home. This could involve disconnecting faulty equipment and arranging for your gas supply to be cut off.

Notice any warning signs?

You may want to get your appliance serviced right away if you notice any of the following:

  • The gas appliance is not working properly
  • The appliance is burning with a lazy yellow flame rather than a crisp blue one
  • Black marks/stains are evident around the gas appliance
  • The pilot light keeps going out
  • There is increased condensation in the room
